My musical road trip began at age 4 when I saw a film of Jimi Hendrix’s Woodstock performance and vowed, “When I grew up I’ll have a guitar just like Jimi’s.” I worked hard and bought a brand new Fender Stratocaster that I played in bands during high school, years of US Army service overseas, thru college… and I still have that old white Strat! My first music industry job was selling guitars at Mills Music, but my second job at Band Aid Music is where I did my first real guitar tech work. There I met Roger Fisher (guitarist, Heart) and started working on his guitars for studio and live shows as a guitar and backline technician for his solo project.

In 1998 I was recruited by EMG Pickups Inc. in Santa Rosa, CA to do sales, product development and testing. I worked my way up to national sales manager and artist relations director. Soon Hollywood beckoned, I became The ESP Guitar Company’s international distribution manager and assisted with artist relations and product development. Later at VHT Amplification Inc., I managed the global distributor network, artist relations program, consulted on sound design, and testing. Then I went to Diamond Amplification / DBZ Guitars as a sales and artist relations manager, and created opportunities for product placement on TV and in movies.

In early 2009 Dan Knight asked me to guitar tech for “Brother Clyde”, a new band featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Ready for a change from the corporate side of the music business, I was once again behind the guitar bench! Dan introduced me to the band’s drummer Samantha Maloney. She managed Cherri Bomb and said they needed my help to dial in their live sound and equipment. After a few fun filled years, recordings, and world touring with Cherri Bomb… Keith Nelson of Buckcherry enlisted me as his tech. Touring the globe with Buckcherry and working on Keith’s real 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard burst “Louis”, many 1950’s and 1960’s Gibson LP Juniors, Firebirds, and V’s, early 1950’s Fender Esquires & Telecasters and Stratocasters, Zemaitis custom prototypes, and cool custom shop guitars… A truly amazing experience for which I am grateful, thank you Keith!

When Steel Panther says, “We need you,” you just go! Satchel and Sticks have the greatest sales pitch of all time, and the most fun shows ever. Touring with Steel Panther is one of those jobs we all dream about. Between Steel Panther tour dates, a good friend (and guitar tech to the stars) Chet Haun called me for a Five Finger Death Punch European tour. I signed on and worked with Five Finger Death Punch’s crew as Chris Kael’s bass tech and Jason Hook’s guitar tech for over 4 and a half years, a huge thanks to FFDP. Currently, I am on tour with Everclear, a great bunch of guys playing straight up rock n’ roll with no tracks or triggers, and it’s tons of fun! Thanks to Art and Everclear guys for making me feel like part of the family.

I consider myself extremely lucky to be one of the few guitar technicians to tour the globe and work shows with some amazing artists: Everclear (Art Alexakis, Davey French & Freddy Herrera), Five Finger Death Punch (Chris Kael & Jason Hook), Steel Panther (Satchel & Lexi Foxx), Buckcherry (Keith Nelson), Cherri Bomb (Rena Lovelis, Miranda Miller & Julia Pierce), P.O.D. (Marcos Curiel & Traa Daniels), Brian Kahanek (Solo Artist), Daniel Knight (Brother Clyde, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus), Roger Fisher (Guitarist & Founding Member of Heart), Rick Beck (CMD), Rob Michaels (Solo Artist), and many many more. I’ve done guitar work & music production in the recording studio, for music videos and films. I worked and consulted on the video game Guitar Hero II as well as guitar work on major TV shows like American Idol, Americas Got Talent, The George Lopez Show, and the hit Showtime series Weeds.

These are a few of the amazing experiences and people I’ve had the pleasure to work with in the music industry over the past 30 years. MR Guitar Service is the next step in a musical evolution spanning multiple continents, decades of dedication to the craft, and to the art and function of the guitar. My mission is to make your guitar play better than ever.

Thank you for placing your trust in MR Guitar Service, a US ARMY Veteran owned company.
